Getting started
Plan a transit trip in three steps.
Open the planner from its toolbar button, enter your route details, and review the trip before you leave.
How it works
Three fields and a button.
A small pin sits in the corner of the page. Click it and the planner opens on top of whatever you’re reading, so you never lose your place.
-
Pick two places
Start typing and suggestions appear after two letters. Choose one so the planner knows exactly where you mean.
-
Say when you’re leaving
Today and right now are filled in for you. Change the date or set any minute of the day, not just the quarter hour.
-
Show Route
The map frames the whole trip with A and B pins, and the panel lists each walk and ride with its distance and how long it takes.
-
Walk from Grand Central Terminal to Lexington Av/59 St Station
-
Taxi from Lexington Av/59 St to Borough Hall
-
Walk from Borough Hall Station to Court St & Joralemon St
-
Depart from Court St · Arrive at Atlantic Av/Furman St
-
Walk from Atlantic Av/Furman St to Brooklyn Bridge Park
Every way the city moves, in one itinerary.
Mixed trips are the whole point. Walking legs are drawn dashed so you can tell at a glance where you ride and where you stroll.

Print Route
Take it with you on paper.
One click turns the trip into an A4 PDF: origin and destination, every step with its line, places and times, and a summary at the end. Long routes flow onto extra pages without splitting a step.
Using the planner
Review the route details
Check each walking and transit leg, departure and arrival time, transfer, and distance. Use the map to follow the route and print the itinerary when you need a paper copy.
